Your Questions, Answered
-
Whether you're a winery, distillery, importer, or beverage brand, AVC is equipped to handle a wide variety of packaged alcoholic beverage products. We currently store bonded wine, tax-paid wine, tax-paid distilled spirits, and many other packaged beverage products within our secure, climate-controlled facilities.
Every business operates a little differently, so we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all storage program. Some customers need a few pallet locations between bottling runs, while others rely on us to manage inventory for multiple brands, distributors, and direct-to-consumer sales. Our team works with you to develop a storage solution that fits your business today and can grow alongside it tomorrow.
-
Switching warehouse providers may seem overwhelming, but it's usually much easier than customers expect. Our team will help you plan the transition by coordinating inventory transfers, receiving schedules, product setup, and transportation so your operation continues with as little disruption as possible.
Before your first truck arrives, we'll already have a plan in place for receiving your inventory, organizing your products, and making sure your team knows how to access information through our AVC Customer Portal.
Many of our longest customer relationships began with a simple conversation about making a change. If you're exploring your options, we're always happy to answer questions—even if you're still early in the decision-making process.
-
Yes. Many of our customers have products in different stages of production, from bonded inventory awaiting labeling to tax-paid products ready for distribution or direct-to-consumer fulfillment.
Managing inventory through a single logistics partner can simplify operations, reduce unnecessary transportation, and give your team one point of contact for storage, fulfillment, transportation, and special projects. Even though AVC operates multiple warehouse facilities, your inventory is managed through one experienced team using the same warehouse management system and customer service approach.
-
Every inbound shipment follows a structured receiving process designed to get your inventory into storage quickly and accurately. Our warehouse team verifies quantities, inspects products for visible damage, records important receiving information, and updates inventory in our warehouse management system.
Whether your shipment arrives on pallets, in a floor-loaded container, or directly from a bottling line, we have the equipment and experience to receive it efficiently. If something doesn't look right, we'll communicate with you so issues can be addressed promptly instead of becoming surprises later.
Receiving isn't just unloading a truck—it's the first step in protecting your inventory.
-
Knowing where your inventory is—and what has happened to it—is just as important as having a place to store it.
Every receipt, shipment, inventory adjustment, and warehouse movement is recorded in our warehouse management system. Through our AVC Customer Portal, you can access inventory information, shipment activity, reports, and project updates whenever you need them.
Whether you're planning a bottling run, preparing a distributor order, or checking inventory before announcing your next wine club release, having timely information helps you make confident business decisions.
-
Many imported products and domestic shipments arrive floor-loaded to maximize trailer space. While some warehouses unload these shipments entirely by hand, AVC utilizes specialized clamp equipment that allows many floor-loaded containers to be unloaded quickly and efficiently.
That means less product handling, faster receiving, and a quicker turnaround from the trailer into inventory. Whether your shipment arrives floor-loaded or palletized, our team is prepared to receive it safely and keep your products moving.
It's just one of the many ways we've invested in equipment that improves efficiency for our customers.
Did You Know? Floor-loaded shipments don't have to slow down warehouse operations. Equipment, facility design, and receiving procedures all play a role in how quickly inventory moves from the trailer into available stock.
-
Protecting your inventory is one of our highest priorities. Our facilities feature climate-controlled storage along with security measures designed to safeguard your products while they're in our care. Inventory is tracked through our warehouse management system, and access is managed by trained warehouse personnel who understand the importance of accuracy and accountability.
We understand that every pallet in our warehouse represents months—or even years—of planning, production, and investment. Protecting your inventory isn't just part of our job; it's one of the most important responsibilities we have.
-
Not at all.
Some of our customers are emerging brands preparing for their very first release. Others manage multiple labels, national distribution, and thousands of cases in storage. We believe every customer deserves the same level of responsiveness, attention to detail, and customer service, regardless of size.
As your business grows, our services can grow with you. Many customers begin with warehouse storage and later add transportation, direct-to-consumer fulfillment, special projects, or other services as their needs evolve.
We enjoy building long-term relationships and becoming an extension of your team—not simply your warehouse.
-
Every warehouse has space. What makes the difference is the people, the experience, and the level of service behind it.
AVC offers much more than storage. We help customers simplify their logistics by providing warehouse storage, transportation services, direct-to-consumer fulfillment, and specialized packaging and rework projects—all supported by one experienced team that's committed to responsive communication and dependable service.
When logistics run smoothly, you spend less time solving operational challenges and more time focusing on your customers, your products, and growing your business. That's the kind of partnership we strive to build with every customer.
Direct to Consumer
Warehousing
-
Absolutely—we'd love to help.
AVC supports recurring wine club releases, tasting room orders, ecommerce orders, allocation releases, holiday promotions, corporate gifting, and other direct-to-consumer shipments.
Our fulfillment team works with you to establish release schedules, verify inventory availability, coordinate packing requirements, and prepare shipments before orders begin processing. Whether you're shipping a few dozen packages or several thousand, our goal is to provide an organized, accurate fulfillment process that reflects the quality of your brand.
Every shipment leaving our facility is an extension of your winery, and we treat it that way.
-
Technology should simplify fulfillment—not complicate it.
AVC integrates with many leading ecommerce and order management platforms, allowing orders to flow directly into our fulfillment process. If your winery prefers to enter orders manually, our Direct-to-Consumer Portal also provides a simple, efficient way to submit and manage orders.
Whether you're considering a new ecommerce platform, already have an established system, or simply need an easy way to enter orders, our team will help you build a workflow that fits your operation.
-
One of the biggest concerns when partnering with a fulfillment provider is losing visibility into what's happening. At AVC, we believe you should always know the status of your orders.
Through our AVC Customer Portal, your team can monitor shipment activity, review reports, place weather holds, request address corrections, submit reroute requests, and access shipment information whenever it's convenient.
Tracking notifications are emailed to both you and your customers the same day an order ships, helping everyone stay informed throughout the delivery process.
Our goal is to give you the convenience of outsourcing fulfillment without giving up control.
-
Yes. Tracking numbers are automatically emailed to both your customers and your winery the same day an order ships, making it easy for everyone to follow the shipment from pickup through delivery.
Our AVC Customer Portal also gives your team convenient access to shipment activity and tools for managing weather holds, address corrections, and reroute requests as your shipping needs change. Combined with real-time reporting, it gives your team the information needed to monitor shipments throughout the delivery process.
-
Yes. Every direct-to-consumer shipment can include up to two pieces of collateral at no additional charge, making it easy to include tasting notes, newsletters, event invitations, recipe cards, wine club information, promotional offers, or other printed materials.
If your project requires additional inserts, custom packaging, hand assembly, or more complex fulfillment, our Special Projects team can work with you to create a solution tailored to your needs.
The shipment doesn't end with the bottles—it includes everything your customer experiences when they open the box.
-
Whether you're preparing for a wine club release, a new product launch, an allocation offering, or another high-volume shipping event, our fulfillment team works with you to coordinate timelines, verify inventory availability, and prepare orders before processing begins.
Advance planning helps ensure your release stays organized and allows both teams to confirm expectations before the first order ships.
Whether your releases follow the same process every time or require something unique, we'll work with you to support the approach that best fits your business.
-
Accuracy starts long before an order is packed.
Our fulfillment process combines technology, documented procedures, and experienced team members to help ensure the correct products, quantities, shipping methods, and customer information are used for every order. Throughout the fulfillment process, orders are verified to help minimize errors before they leave our facility.
While no fulfillment operation can promise perfection, our goal is to provide consistent, dependable service that both you and your customers can rely on.
-
Corporate gifting and custom fulfillment projects are a great way to create a memorable customer experience.
In addition to traditional direct-to-consumer shipments, AVC supports corporate gifting programs, customer appreciation gifts, influencer campaigns, employee recognition packages, and other custom fulfillment projects.
Whether your project includes branded packaging, custom inserts, mixed-product assortments, hand assembly, or other specialized requirements, our team will work with you to develop a fulfillment solution that meets your objectives while maintaining the same attention to detail as every other shipment.
-
Some wineries rely on a fulfillment provider from their very first shipment, while others choose to make the transition as their business evolves. Whether you're looking for year-round fulfillment, support during larger wine club releases, or assistance with specific projects, AVC offers flexible solutions designed to fit your operation.
Our goal is to become an extension of your team by providing the fulfillment support you need while allowing you to stay focused on the parts of your business that matter most.
Transportation
-
AVC operates its own fleet of trucks supporting wineries and beverage producers throughout Northern California. Whether you're moving inventory between facilities, delivering to a tasting room, transporting bottling materials, or transferring finished goods, our transportation team can help keep you moving.
From routine local deliveries to scheduled runs throughout the region, we understand the unique transportation needs of the beverage industry and work with our customers to provide dependable, flexible service.
Our goal is to become an extension of your team by providing the fulfillment support you need while allowing you to stay focused on the parts of your business that matter most.
-
Not at all.
While many of our transportation customers also warehouse with us, that's not a requirement. We regularly provide transportation services for wineries and beverage companies that simply need reliable trucking.
Whether it's a one-time transfer, recurring deliveries, or support for a specific project, we're happy to discuss how our transportation team may be able to help.
-
Bottling runs require careful coordination, and transportation is an important part of keeping production on schedule. AVC regularly transports inventory and bottling materials to and from bottling facilities, including large multi-run pickups and deliveries that require a truck to remain dedicated to the project throughout the day.
Working with a transportation team that's familiar with bottling operations helps ensure inventory and materials arrive where they're needed, when they're needed.
-
Many of our customers rely on AVC as an extension of their day-to-day operations.
Whether it's weekly tasting room replenishment, recurring transfers between facilities, scheduled bottling support, or ongoing transportation projects, our team works with you to establish a transportation schedule that fits your business.
By becoming familiar with your locations, products, and preferences, we can provide consistent, dependable service that makes transportation one less thing to worry about.
-
Our fleet includes a bobtail van along with 28-foot and 53-foot van trailers, giving us the flexibility to accommodate a variety of transportation needs.
We regularly transport case goods, barrels, bins, bottling materials, dry goods, and other products used throughout winery and beverage operations. Whether you need to move a smaller load or have a project that requires multiple full trailer runs, our team can match the equipment and schedule to the job.
-
Scheduling transportation is easy with AVC.
Customers can request transportation through our AVC Customer Portal, by email, or with a traditional phone call. Our transportation team reviews the request, schedules equipment, and confirms the details so everyone is on the same page before the pickup or delivery.
Whether you prefer using technology or simply picking up the phone, we'll work with you in the way that's most convenient for your business.
-
Give us a call. Transportation needs don't always come with weeks of notice, and having our own fleet gives AVC the flexibility to respond when schedules change or an unexpected transportation need comes up.
Truck availability will always depend on the schedule, equipment needed, and the specifics of the project, but our team will do what we can to find a solution. Whether you need an additional run during bottling, inventory moved between locations, or help with another time-sensitive project, it's worth asking.
That's where having a responsive transportation team can make a real difference.
-
Our trucks are on the road throughout Northern California, handling everything from local transfers to longer scheduled runs. While many of our routes are concentrated in Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino Counties, our service isn't limited to those areas.
Have a destination in mind? Give our transportation team a call. We'll look at the location, timing, equipment requirements, and our schedule to determine how we can help.
-
Anyone who works in the wine and beverage industries knows that plans can change.
Weather, traffic, harvest activity, and changes to production schedules can occasionally affect transportation timing. When that happens, our transportation team works with you to adjust schedules, communicate updates, and keep your project moving with as little disruption as possible.
Flexibility and responsive communication are an important part of supporting beverage operations.
-
Transportation is more than moving inventory from one location to another. It's about working with a team that understands winery and beverage operations and the importance of handling your products with care.
Our team of drivers averages more than 20 years of experience, bringing a level of knowledge and professionalism that matters when they're handling your products and representing AVC at your facilities. They understand the environments they're working in, the importance of schedules, and the care required when transporting wine, barrels, bottling materials, and other beverage products.
Because transportation is part of AVC's broader logistics services, our team also understands how trucking, warehousing, bottling support, direct-to-consumer fulfillment, and special projects all work together. Whether we're transporting inventory stored at AVC or providing trucking as a standalone service, our goal is to deliver dependable transportation backed by experienced people who understand your industry.
Special Projects
-
Special Projects cover all the hands-on work that can happen after a product is bottled and packaged.
Maybe finished inventory needs new labels. Maybe an existing package needs to become a three-pack for a promotion. Maybe bottles need wax, capsules, tissue, or a completely different presentation. Or maybe something unexpected happened and you simply need a team with the space, equipment, and people to help solve it.
AVC's Special Projects team handles label application and removal, relabeling, repacking, custom packaging, bottle finishing, export and bailment labeling, case reconfigurations, and a variety of other hands-on projects.
Most projects are straightforward, familiar requests that our team handles regularly. But don't let that list define what's possible. Tell us what you're trying to accomplish, and we'll start there.
-
This is where Special Projects gets fun.
Our team can create custom configurations including 3-packs, 6-packs, mixed packs, tray packs, wooden-box presentations, tissue wrapping, branded cases, and other custom packaging.
You bring us the concept, materials, specifications, and finished look you're trying to achieve. We'll help translate those details into a production plan that can be repeated consistently across the project.
A package can do more than hold a product. It can turn inventory into a gift, promotion, special release, tasting room offering, or entirely new customer experience.
-
Absolutely.
AVC can soak existing labels off bottles, apply new labels, add capsules, and provide wax finishing in straight, angled, or drip styles. That gives you options when the wine inside the bottle isn't changing—but what you want the customer to see on the outside is.
Projects can range from straightforward label application to more involved transformations requiring multiple steps. Before production begins, we'll work through the materials, quantities, specifications, and desired finished appearance with you.
It's amazing how different the same bottle can look when you're finished.
-
Absolutely. A change in packaging can give an existing product an entirely new purpose.
A special release might call for tissue-wrapped bottles in a wooden box. A corporate gift could require a custom assortment with branded collateral. A tasting room promotion might need an existing case configuration broken down and rebuilt into something entirely different.
Tell us what you want the finished product to look like. We'll work through the packaging, assembly requirements, quantities, and timeline with you to develop a plan for producing it consistently.
-
That's a Special Project, too.
AVC can sort, repack, relabel, remove existing labels, or otherwise rework finished goods to help return usable inventory to saleable condition. Once we understand what happened and what the finished product needs to look like, we can develop a defined scope for the work.
An unexpected inventory issue is frustrating. Having the people and resources available to turn it into a manageable project can make the solution considerably easier.
-
Yes. AVC can perform the physical labeling and rework needed for products headed to markets with specific labeling requirements, including export and bailment-state labeling projects.
Our Special Projects team works from the specifications and materials provided for the project to apply the required labels and prepare the finished goods for their next destination.
For inventory already stored at AVC, that can be particularly convenient: the additional work can be completed without first sending the product somewhere else simply to have the physical labeling performed.
-
No—and if your inventory is already stored at AVC, that's one of the advantages of having our Special Projects team available right here.
When inventory stored with us needs relabeling, repacking, bottle finishing, or another type of rework, our Special Projects team can complete the work without requiring you to send the product to a separate rework facility and then transport it back into storage.
If you're not currently an AVC storage customer, don't count us out. Talk to us about the project. We can determine what's involved, how the inventory would come to us, and whether AVC is a good fit for the work.
For existing storage customers, the benefit is especially simple: fewer product movements, fewer vendors to coordinate, and inventory that's already positioned for whatever comes next.
-
Yes. Through our AVC Customer Portal, you can monitor the progress of your Special Project and stay informed as work moves forward.
That visibility becomes particularly valuable when a project involves multiple production stages or significant quantities of inventory. You can see where things stand while planning shipments, releases, or whatever needs to happen once the project is complete.
Prefer an actual conversation? That's easy, too. Our team is only a phone call or email away.
-
Please do.
Some projects start with a familiar request: apply new labels, build a custom pack, add capsules, or prepare inventory for a particular market. Others start with a simple question: “Can you do this?”
Maybe marketing has developed a new packaging concept. Maybe existing inventory needs to be presented differently for a promotion. Or maybe something unexpected landed on your desk and you need help figuring out the physical work required to get the product where it needs to be.
Tell us what you're trying to accomplish. We'll talk through the inventory, materials, quantities, timeline, and finished result and determine whether AVC has the equipment, space, and resources to make it happen.
You don't need to know what to call the project. You just need to know what you want the end result to be.
